Jessica Aguilar ready to become a champion

Jessica Aguilar is regarded by many fans and critics as the top women’s 115-pound fighter in the world and she will get a chance to solidify that claim when she faces Alida Gray for the World Series of Fightng Women’s Strawweight championship.

The former Bellator star will go head-to-head with Gray at WSOF 8, which takes place Jan. 18, 2014 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla.

Aguilar signed with WSOF back in November, much to the surprise – and perhaps chagrin – of MMA fans, who were hoping to see her jump to Invicta Fighting Championships. She comes into the match with a win against Women’s MMA legend Megumi Fujii back in October.

While Aguilar has the experience and skills to claim the WSOF Women’s 115-pound belt, she will certainly have a challenge on her hands. Gray, an Olympic judo alternate in 1996, is 4-0 in her professional career. She went 4-1 in her run as an amateur, with all of her wins – ammy and pro – being finishes.

Still, Aguilar is no stranger to big matches and knows how to put on a good fight. If Aguilar defeats Gray, she would certainly establish herself as the top women’s strawweight fighter  in all of mixed martial arts.

How the hell will Jag establish herself as the top straw weight in MMA by winning a totally made up and worthless belt against a 36 year old 4-0 fighter who might not even make the TUF house in May? Explain that. WSOF doesnt even have a division!!! Anyone top 10 in Invicta could beat Jag. She had the chance to face the best and ran to a minor league version of Bellator. And then got blindsided when UFC started a 115 division. Ray Sefo should take pity on her and let her go on TUF. Otherwise her career is over.
