George Sotiropoulos, Alessio Sakara, Rosi Sexton released by UFC

Days before Christmas, the UFC has released three MMA veterans from the roster: George Sotiropoulos, Alessio Sakara and Rosi Sexton.

Sotiropoulos is currently riding a four-fight skid, his most recent loss against K.J. Noons back in October. To his credit, all four of these losses were against top fighters. I would not be surprised if Sotiropoulos ended up fighting in Bellator.

Sakara, whose UFC run spanned eight years, has also lost four consecutive matches, which includes a defeat against Brian Stann. I think Sakara could find some matches on the regional circuit or Bellator to help build their middleweight division.

Sexton had been a part of the first wave of women’s bantamweights to enter the UFC. She went 0-2 in the octagon, losing to Alexis Davis and Jessica Andrade. Despite the defeats, Sexton displayed great heart during her matches. There is no doubt that we will see “The Surgeon” find bouts in Europe and the United States.

As with many fighters who are released from the UFC, fans could see  Sotiropoulos, Sakara and Sexton back in the octagon someday.

I would like to see G-Sots in Bellator. There was a rumour started in TUF Smashers that G-Sots was knocked out off camera by Pearsons boxing coach. Now I don’t know who to believe since Pearson said it in an interview and G-Sots denied it in another interview and they both have reason to lie about it. I personally believe G-Sots because his version of events seems more realistic them Pearsons but that being said I can be a little bias when it comes to G-Sots since he is one of my favourite fighters. That being said, the reason I would like to see G-Sots in Bellator is because Pearsons boxing coach fights there in G-Sots division and I think it would be a good way to prove which story is true. As for the other fighters that were cut, I don’t really know who they are so I have no idea.
