One of combat sports’ most beloved fighters will be making his Glory debut in March, 2014.
According to reports, Glory confirmed that former UFC veteran and Pride Openweight Grand Prix champion Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic will be making his debut for Glory, March 8, against Remy Bonjasky in his hometown of Zagreb, Croatia. There were
March 8 will not be the first time Cro Cop and Bonjasky have crossed paths in the ring. The Croatian fighter defeated Bonjasky back in 2002 in the second round via TKO.
Since leaving the UFC back in 2011, Cro Cop has been on a tear in kickboxing, going 6-0. The last time Filipovic competed in his home country, he captured the K-1 World Grand Prix championship by defeating Jarrell Miller, Pavel Zhuravlev and Ismael Londt in the same night.
Filipovic also made a return to mixed martial arts at Legend Fight Show 2 in November, where he was submitted by Oleksiy Oliynyk.
Glory has yet to announce any other fights for the card, but there is a good chance the will do well, especially with the promotion’s recent success with Glory 13.
As for Cro Cop, a win over Bonjasky would add to his legacy and could be the start of a successful run with the promotion.
