Irish fighter Amanda English to make professional MMA debut in home country

Cage Warriors will cap off 2013 with their 63rd event at The Helix in Dublin, Ireland, Dec. 31, with two championship matches: Steven Ray will defend the lightweight title against Ivan Buchinger while Jim Alers puts his featherweight championship on the line against Graham Turner.

But as Ray and Alers get set to put up their gold and take on challenges that could change their careers, there is one fighter who will be taking a big step in her fighting life.

Prospect Amanda English will make her professional mixed martial arts debut against Slavka Vitalty at Cage Warriors 63.

English comes into the cage with a 1-1 amateur record. She lost to Peral Gonzalez in her first fight by submission. After taking two years, she returned to competition in September and took Sunna Davidsdottir to a decision.

As for Vitaly, the Italian fighter comes in with a 2-0 record. In her mixed martial arts debut, she scored a second-round knockout over Ieva Slezaite. In her next fight, she changed it up and submitted Annalisa Bucci with an armbar in the first round.

Although Vitaly has more wins on her record, English could end up with the upset, especially with her countrymen cheering for her.

If English can defeat Vitaliy, she could be well on her way to a successful mixed martial arts career.
