Tatsuya “Crusher” Kawajiri, who has been regarded as one of the top lightweights to come from Japan, will now get a chance to display his skills in front of a larger audience.
Kawajiri will compete at UFC Fight Night 34 at the Marina Bay Sands, Marina Bay, Singapore., Jan. 4, 2014 What some fans may not know is that he will face newcomer Sean Soriano on the event’s main card.
Kawajiri was orignally scheduled to face Brazilian star Hacran Dias. Unfortunately, Dias pulled out of the bout due to injury.
The Japanese fighter comes in with an impressive fight resume, holding victories over some of the top fighters at lightweight and featherweight, including Josh Thomson, Joachim Hansen and Drew Fickett.
As for Soriano, he comes in to the octagon with a record of 8-0, with six of his wins being finishes. In his last two fights, he went the distance with both Elvin Leon Brito and Victor Delgado.
With both fighters stepping into the octagon, it will be interesting to see how they perform. For Soriano, this will be his first time fighting outside of the United States. As for Kawajiri, the Crusher is used to fighting on large stages during his days with DREAM and Pride Fighting Championships.
