Update: UFC President Dana White has said the fight between Gilbert Melendez and Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 170 is not official.

Coming off a “Fight of the Year” performance against Diego Sanchez, former Strikeforce Lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez will face undefeated Russian star Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 170, Feb. 22, 2014.

UFC officials announced the match following UFC 168.

This should be an exciting match. Both fighters have great grappling; however Melendez has the edge in striking and overall experience, specifically when it comes to fighting a higher class of opponents.
