Although Josh Barnett may have been knocked down in the heavyweight rankings after his loss to Travis Browne, “The Warmaster” still has another fight left in him.

And while there are a plethora of heavyweights for him to fight, there is only one man who Barnett should face in his next fight: fellow former UFC Heavyweight title holder Antonio Rodrigo “Minotauro” Nogueira.

Nogueira and Barnett met twice during their days in Pride Fighting Championships. In their first encounter, Barnett, known then as “The Baby-Faced Assassin” defeated Minotauro by split-decision to advance to the finals of the Pride 2006 Openweight Grand Prix tournament. The two would meet again three months later at Pride Shockwave 2006. This time it would be Nogueira who came out the winner.

A third match between Barnett and Noguieira could appeal to Pride fans, as well as UFC fans. Both fighters are closely matched when it comes to grappling, striking and experience.

Barnett and Nogueira III would be a great addition to any fight card in 2014. It could even headline an event in Brazil, the United States or even Japan.
