Jamie Varner has done it again.

The former WEC Lightweight champion will step up to fight Abel Trujillo at UFC 169, Feb. 1, 2014. Trujillo was scheduled to face Bobby Green, who withdrew from the fight due to unknown reasons.

This is not the first time Varner has stepped up to fight someone on short notice. In his UFC debut, he substituted for Evan Dunham to fight Edson Barboza. Varner finished Barboza in the first round.

In his next fight, the former champion stepped in for Terry Etim to fight Joe Lauzon. Although he lose the fight, Varner earned his first “Fight of the Night” bonus.

While Varner, who is 2-2 on his current UFC run, will be looking to get back on the winning track, Trujillo coming off of an impressive performance against Roger Bowling and defeating Varner would be a large feather in his cap.
