The injury bug did not wait long to strike in 2014 as it has forced World Series of Fighting to change the main event for WSOF 8, which takes place Jan. 18.

Lewis Gonzalez was originally scheduled to face the undefeated Justin Gaethje for the WSOF Lightweight championship, but has now been scrapped from the bout. Takin his place will be prospect Richard Patishnock, who is 2-0 in the promotion.

This was first reported by MMAFighting.com, who was informed of the fight change by the promotion’s executive vice president Ali Abdel-Aziz.

Patishnock was set to face Luis Palomino at the event. WSOF officials are looking for a replacement opponent for Palomino.
