It did not take long for the UFC to find a replacement for Jason High, who had to withdraw from his bout, Jan. 15, due to a ruptered appendix.
UFC veteran Charlie “The Spaniard” Brenneman will return to the octagon to face Beneil Dariush at UFC Fight Night 35.
The Spaniard’s first run in the UFC was 4-4, including a win over High back in 2010. His last bout in the octagon was in September 2012 against Kyle Noke, who finished him in the first round. After he was released from the UFC, Brenneman won his next four fight and on the CFFC Lightweight championship.
Even though he is taking the fight on short notice, I think Brenneman’s experience in the octagon and success in recent bouts will be a good challenge for Dariush, who is 6-0 in competition.
If Brenneman is successful in his comeback fight, he could be on the verge of a successful UFC run that includes a shot at a Top 10 fighter.
