Since her injury in 2013, Cat Zingano has underwent surgery and recovery in hopes of getting back to her top contender spot.
Zingano was originally scheduled to coach against UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey on “The Ultimate Fighter” with a title bout between the two taking place after the show was over. After Zingano got hurt, Even after Miesha Tate stepped up to face Rousey, UFC President Dana White assured the world that Zingano was still the top contender. Following Rousey’s win over Tate, White made the announcement that the champion would defend her title against Sara McMann in February.
MMA Fighting released a video interview with Zingano, who said she would be sparring by March and fighting in May. Zingano said she wants to get back fighting and hopes that Rousey is ready to fight when she is healthy.
