There is life for Ryan Couture’s fight career after being cut from the UFC.
Couture, who is 6-3 in his professional career, will face Kyle Sjafiroeddin at “Battlegrounds MMA 3,” which takes place at Riverwind Hotel and Casino in Norman, Okla., Jan. 18.
Couture suffered back-to-back losses against Ross Pearson and Al Iaquinta during his stint in the octagon. Prior to those defeats Couture had won his last four fights.
Sjafiroeddin is coming of a loss against Zac Church, who won the match in the fifth round via submission.
Fighting for regional promotions is a good way for Couture to get back into mixed martial arts and get some wins under his belt as he waits to get picked up by Bellator or the World Series of Fighting. There is speculation that the bad blood between Couture’s father, Randy Couture, and the UFC has worked against Ryan.
I think if Ryan can rack up a few impressive victories, we could see him again in the UFC.
