As we begin the new year, Xtreme Fighting Championships is already deepening their roster.
In a news release, XFC announced they had signed Florida featherweight prospect Troy Gerhart to a contract.
Gerhart will bring some excitement to XFC’s already growing 145-pound division, especially when it comes to the striking department. In 2013, the Florida native returned to MMA after a three-year absence where he focused on training and organizing his personal life, according to the news release. In his return bout, he finished Chris Thorne at RFC 29 in November 2013.
He has a 6-2 record, with five of his wins coming by way of KO/TKO.
Gerhart shared his thoughts on signing with XFC in the news release.
“Man, this is a good feeling. It’s such a weight off my shoulders to know I can concentrate on my training and not have to worry about where my next fight is coming from. The XFC has grown so much since I fought for them in 2008, and right now the Featherweight division is the toughest one in the company. It’s full of potential fights that can further my career. I can’t wait to get started!”
Gerhart is expected to make his XFC debut within the year. You can follow him on Twitter @tgerhartmma.
