After he was cut from the UFC, Anthony “Rumble” Johnson spent the next year racking up victories before he found the World Series of Fighting.
Johnson is set to fight Mike Kyle at WSOF 8 in Hollywood, Fla., but it seems that there will be more on the line than just the winner’s purse.
WSOF owner Ray Sefo promised Johnson a title match if he were to defeat Kyle, Jan. 18. There is speculation that the promotion is doing this in attempt to get Johnson to re-sign with them.
Although Johnson said he would not make a decision regarding his contractual status until after the bout with Kyle, as his focus is on the fight, he had good things to say about his relationship with WSOF and the executives.
Personally, I think Johnson should stay with WSOF as long as they are willing to grant him a title match if he defeats Kyle. He has been with the promotion since their beginning and could become one of the premier faces of the promotion.
