MMA H.E.A.T. caught a taste from the UFC 170 media lunch that featured an interaction between UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Strikeforce Grand Prix champion Daniel Cormier, both of whom will be a part of UFC 170.
What was this interaction you may ask? Well, Cormier and Rousey talking about their favorite WWF stars. Cormier also dubbed himself “Macho Man” after Randy Savage, after he realized he could “take wrestler names.”
After Cormier dubbed himself “Macho” the two began talking about WWE’s “Old School Raw,” which happened this past Monday.
I knew Rousey was a professional wrestling, as her nickname came from WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, but I never knew about Cormier’s love for the Macho Man. What is interesting is that his UFC 170 opponent Rashad Evans is also a fan of the former WWF and WCW world champion.
Although some fans get enraged whenever a hint of professional wrestling makes its way into mixed martial arts, it is well-known that MMA fighters and wrestlers are a fan of each other’s work.
Also if you have not watched Old School Raw, there might be some spoilers.
If you could have a professional nickname for yourself, what would it be? Tell us in the comment section, tweet to @alstover or email [email protected].
