The date for the long-awaited light heavyweight title bout between challenger Glover Teixeira and champion Jon “Bones” Jones has been revealed.
According to a report from the Baltimore Sun, UFC officials announced that Jones and Teixeira will square off at UFC 172, April 26. Although this bout has been made official in the past a few times – only for UFC President Dana White to turn around and nix them – it appears that UFC 172 will indeed be the meeting place for Jones and Teixeira.
Jones, who is currently ranked the No. 1 fighter on the planet, has won 10 straight bouts. He comes into the fight after a razor-thin decision over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165.
Meanwhile, Teixeira has not lost since 2005. In 24 fights, he has only gone the distance four times.
While Jones vs. Gustafsson was a five-round epic, I have a feeling the bout between the UFC Light Heavyweight champion and his Brazilian challenger will not go past the third round.
