Former PRIDE Middleweight champion Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva may have other things on his mind as he gets ready to coach against Chael Sonnen on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3.”
According to reports, once his war with Sonnen is over – though I have a sneaking suspicion that TUF Brazil 3 will only be the beginning – Silva will begin his campaign for a seat in the Brazilian congress in the state of Parana. It appears he will be affiliated with the Brazilian Democracy Party. If Silva is elected, Oct. 5, he would be a federal deputy for four years.
The Axe Murderer is adamant about making a change in his home country, stating “No more corrupt politicians stealing from us.”
There have been several boxers and professional wrestlers who have moved from the ring and into politics. Silva is very popular in his country and it would not surprise me if won the election, barring someone like Vitor Belfort or Anderson Silva does not run against him.
