Daniel Straus faces Pat Curran in trilogy bout at Bellator 112

Details of Bellator MMA’s next season continue to come out.

Bellator officials announced that current Bellator Featherweight champion Daniel Straus will make his first title defense against Pat Curran, the man he defeated for the title in 2013, at Bellator 112, March 14, which takes place at Horseshoe Hammond Casino in Hammond, Ind.

According to reports, the heads of Bellator are invoking a championship rematch clause, which allows a former champion to challenge for the title instead of having him win another tournament. Tournament winners Frodo Khasbulaev and Patricio Freire will have to wait to receive their championships matches. This first came into effect when Eddie Alvarez returned to Bellator to challenge Michael Chandler for the lightweight championship last year.

There were skeptics who said that Straus did not beat Curran at Bellator 106. This rubber match gives the champion a chance to silence his critics.

In addition to the featherweight title bout, Bellator 112 will feature two matches from the promotion’s Season 10 Welterweight tournament.

In one bout, War Machine vs. Nah-Shon Burrell. Joe Riggs vs. Sam Oropeza will face each other in the second round of the tournament. Riggs earned a spot in the tournament after he won “Fight Master” reality show.
