Former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight champion Miesha “Cupcake” Tate will look to capture her first win in the octagon as she faces fellow former title contender Liz Carmouche at UFC on Fox 11, April 19, at the Amway Center in Orlando.
Although Tate had a successful stint as a coach on “The Ultimate Fighter 18“ she had an unsuccessful run in 2013, losing to both Cat Zingano and Ronda Rousey. In her match with the “Rowdy” one, Tate became the first fighter to take the UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion past the first round.
As for Carmouche, the U.S. Marine went 1-2 last year, dropping bouts to Rousey and Alexis Davis while picking up a win against Jessica Andrade in between those fights.
Tate and Carmouche were originally scheduled to face each other this past summer; however Zingano, who had defeated Cupcake to coach “TUF 18“ suffered an injury and Tate stepped in her place.
As I’ve said before, this bout could be a war when it comes to the ground. Both fighters have good grappling. While Carmouche may have the advantage when it comes to strength, but Tate has shown fans that she can take a lot of punishment and come back from the brink of defeat.
All I can say is I am excited for this match.
