Pat Barry signs with GLORY WS, returns to kickboxing

The former UFC Heavyweight who announced his departure from MMA and the UFC last week, has now decided to go back to his kickboxing roots and return to the combat sport. Pat Barry announced via twitter and on The MMA Hour with MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani, that he has signed a contract with Glory World Series and will be making his debut in May, likely for Glory 16–an event which has yet to be announced.

But prior to his Glory debut, Pat Barry will be competing in his first kickboxing match since 2007, for World Kickboxing Association in March.

According to MiddleEasy, Pat Barry’s return to kickboxing fight will be against Ed “Black Rage” Burris at Combat Sports Challenge (CSC) Kickboxing 39 on March 22nd.

Pat Barry has compiled a professional record of 18-6-1 in kickboxing spanning between 2002-2007, competing the majority of his bouts with the former K-1 promotion. ‘HD’ has compiled notable wins over heavyweights Gary Goodridge, Scott Lighty, and Rickard Nordstrand.

No opponent has been announced for Pat Barry’s Glory debut, but one potential familiar opponent and friend that Barry has fought in the UFC, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic is an option; Barry would not be opposed to fighting him in Glory.
