UFC Fight Night 36 is all set and ready to go, with a crucial middleweight bout headlining the card in Jaraguá do Sol, Brazil. The hometown favourite will be former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida, who squares off against one of his toughest tests to date in Gegard Mousasi on Saturday night.
With a win over Mousasi, the Brazilian could get a shot at the middleweight title, though the co main event will also shape the title picture at 185lbs. Jacare Souza is a former Strikeforce middleweight champion and has been on a tear since moving over to the UFC, defeating Chris Camozzi and Yushin Okami in devastating fashion. Frenchman Francis Carmont is on an 11-fight win streak and will be hoping to ruin Jacare’s plans, and comes into the fight a massive underdog.
Elsewhere, Erick Silva will be hoping to bounce back with a win over UFC newcomer Takenori Sato, while Nicholas Musoke and Viscarde Andrade will hope to go 2-0 inside the Octagon. At featherweight, Charles Oliveira and Andy Ogle will battle for relevance in a potential loser-leaves-town fight.
