Zak Cummings’ fight with Alberto Mina has been scrapped from the TUF China Finale card, after the American came in 8lbs heavy and Mina decided against agreeing a catchweight. This is a horrible way for a fight to be taken off a card, with Cummings travelling across the globe to China for the fight and attempting to cut weight, while Mina was able to cut weight and prepare for the fight but will be unable to compete.
Other than this piece of unfortunate news, all fighter made weight and the card will now feature just eight fights, after the TUF featherweight finale was also cancelled last week.
Dong Hyun-Kim will meet John Hathaway on the card’s main event in a five round welterweight contest between highly rated UFC veterans. Both fighters have fought several times inside the Octagon and now their paths will meet, with a win being pivotal in the stacked 170lbs division. The South Korean is a big draw in Asia and will have the fans on his side, but the Brit, Hathaway, is a stellar fighter capable of beating the best that welterweight has to offer.
Elsewhere, the TUF China welterweight championship will be crowned in the co-main of the card, with 7-7-1 Zhang Lipeng facing Wang Sai, who is 7-4 as a professional. The main card also features two bouts between fighters hoping to get back to winning ways, with heavyweights Shawn Jordan and Matt Mitrione squaring off, while Hatsu Hioki meets Ivan Menjivar in the featherweight division.
