Phil Baroni Signs with Bellator MMA

There are few fighters in the game today who can continue to be a household name with a record of 15-17, yet somehow “The New York Bad Ass” Phil Baroni does. It was announced today that Baroni has signed a deal with Bellator MMA, and will make his debut for the company in May.

Baroni is not expected to be apart of any of the promotions tournaments, and will instead be on a very short term contract – as short as one fight. He is, however, will be apart of the televised portion of the promotions’s May card. At this point in his career, it’s difficult to categorize a Baroni fight as anything special, yet he does have a personality that has endured for over a decade. His no nonsense, straight forward fighting style, as well as his large than life personality have made him more a spectacle than legitimate title contender.

However, MMA is a sport that follows a thin line when it comes to sports and entertainment. For Phil Baroni, entertainment has always outweighed the sport.
