Benson Henderson, Rustam Khabilov headline UFC Fight Night card

Benson Henderson will return after his narrow win over top contender Josh Thomson by facing tough Russian Sambo specialist Rustam Khabilov.

Henderson came back from his recent UFC title loss to current champ Anthony Pettis at UFC 164, but he had a tough time overcoming Thomson. Many feel that the fight should have been scored in Thomson’s favour, but the win takes Henderson overall UFC record to a very impressive 8-1 and he could just be a win or two away from a third fight with Pettis.

Khabilov, meanwhile, has impressed since debuting in the UFC with his most recent win coming over respected former Strikeforce contender Jorge Masvidal. However Rustam is yet to face anyone near the level of Benson Henderson, but with the improvements shown in recent months it should be an interesting affair.

This news comes as no shock to hardcore MMA fans as the fight has been rumour for several weeks, though it was also revealed that Henderson mistook Khabilov for fellow Russian lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov. The fight will headline an upcoming UFC Fight Night card in Albuquerque, NM. The card is set for June 7, and will be held at Tingley Coliseum.
