Just one day removed from a TKO victory over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC Fight Night 38, Dan Henderson took to twitter upon hearing the news that the UFC 173 Middleweight title fight between Lyoto Machida and Chris Weidman would be postponed for two months until UFC 175 on July 5th, due to Chris Weidman having minor knee surgery. Henderson tweeted UFC President Dana White that he wished to have a rematch with the former UFC Light Heavyweight champion and current Middleweight #1 contender, Lyoto Machida.

Dan Henderson had lost his previous 3 fights before bouncing back with the TKO win over Shogun Sunday, the first of those 3 losses, a close split decision to Lyoto Machida at UFC 157.
Henderson also references the previous title shot that he earned against Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones at UFC 151, but never came to fruition due to Henderson suffering an injury. Lyoto Machida was the first fighter offered by the UFC to replace Henderson in the title fight, against Jones–however he would turn down the title shot, leading ultimately to Vitor Belfort stepping in and challenging the champion at UFC 152.
