OSP calls out Maldonado, but Fabio has another opponent in mind

Why can’t things just be easy in the world of mixed martial arts? After Ovince St. Preux called out Fabio Maldonado after the Brazilian was victorious for a third time in a row by defeating Gian Villante at UFC Fight Night 38, the fight seemed like a match made in heaven. However Maldonado has had other ideas.

First, let’s look at the Ovince St. Preux situation. OSP, a very talented breakthrough light heavyweight who was imported as part of the Strikeforce acquisition, has gone 3-0 since joining the UFC, with all three coming inside the distance. His most recent win was over Nikita Krylov with an impressive choke just 89 seconds into the fight, and a fight with Maldonado, who was also won three in a row, seems ideal.

Maldonado took to Twitter to call out another fighter, however, in the form of Dan Henderson, who won the main event bout of the UFC Fight Night 38 card.

It is unlikely that this fight will come to fruition, with Henderson now ranked #6 at light heavyweight and Maldonado still unranked. However, with the boxing prodigy of Maldonado as well as his heart and chin, it could be an entertaining fight between two tough 205ers. It may just stay a dream for the Brazilian, but only time will tell.
