Another intriguing match-up has been added to the UFC Fight Night 44 card in San Antonio, TX. as unbeaten Myles Jury will face off against heavy hitting Abel Trujillo in a brilliant piece of matchmaking by Joe Silva. The announcement comes just a day after the UFC added to the card, which is headlined by a featherweight fight between Cub Swanson and Jeremy Stephens.
The card will be held at AT&T Arena as the UFC host their first event in San Antonio, with June 28 also playing host to the UFC’s debut in New Zealand. In Myles Jury vs. Abel Trujillo, UFC fans are getting spoiled by one of the best fights available in the stacked lightweight division.
Jury, fresh off his most high profile win over Diego Sanchez, is unbeaten as a professional after appearing on The Ultimate Fighter Live season. He was a heavy favourite for the entire show, though was eliminated in the opening round via split decision to eventual finalist Al Iaquinta, in an entertaining bout that ultimately won Fight of the Season honours. Now 14-0 as a professional, 5-0 in the UFC and at just 25 years of age, it is no wonder why Myles Jury is one of the hottest prospects in the sport.
Abel Trujillo is coming off a Fight of the Night war with Jamie Varner in a fight where Trujillo faced a ton of adversity, was almost finished on numerous occasions, and he still managed to gut it out and get the comeback knockout victory. ‘Killa’ is now 30 years of age and has racked up an impressive 3-1 (1 NC) record since joining the UFC in 2012. With all three of his wins coming by form of knockout, Trujillo is one of the most feared strikers in the division and poses a number of problems to Jury’s undefeated record.
This has all the makings of Fight of the Night, on a card thusfar packedwith fights that could be labelled the same way.
