Before the fighters step into the cage Saturday night for UFC 172 in Baltimore, Maryland at the Baltimore Arena, they first had to step on the scale to make their fights official. The weigh-ins took place at the same venue that will host the event Saturday night, all 20 fighters officially made weight for their fights.
UFC 172 will be headlined by a Light Heavyweight title fight between the champion, Jon Jones (19-1), who looks to defend his title for a 7th time, against challenger Glover Teixeira (22-2). Both fighters made the exact 205lb limit, to make the title fight official.
“He’s a great fighter, he’s got all the tools. He’s a great champion. I’m going to take that belt away from him tomorrow,” Teixeira said.
“Tomorrow night, I’m going for another world title, and I appreciate all your support. I’m going to give it my best and I’m predicting another victory,” Jones said.
The co-main event features the return of Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (16-4), who has had his weight issues in the past–but now fighting at light heavyweight–made the 205lb limit easily, and is set to take on #4 ranked Phil Davis (12-1).
