Bellator 118: Warren vs Silva Weigh-In Results, Rafael Silva comes in over

Bellator 118 is set to take place Friday, May 2nd at the Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The event is headlined by a Bellator interim bantamweight title bout between Joe Warren (10-3) and Rafael Silva (21-3). The original main event between Eduardo Dantas and Joe Warren for the Bellator Bantamweight Championship underwent a change one week before the event, as champion Eduardo Dantas suffered a head injury in training. In stepped Season 8 summer series bantamweight tournament winner, Rafael Silva to replace Dantas.

“In Brazil we say there are people that talk and people that do, I do,” Rafael Silva told Jimmy Smith. “He calls himself the baddest man on the planet, I want to be known as the man that beat the baddest man on the planet on 10 days notice.”

“This waist is bare and I can’t wait to put a belt on it. I’m excited to beat this Brazilian down,” Joe Warren said.

Also on the card is the 2nd welterweight tournament semifinal between Andrey Korehkov (15-1) and Sam Oropeza (11-2).

And the summer series tournaments are getting a head start as Liam McGeary (6-0) vs Mike Mucitelli (6-0) open up the light heavyweight tournament.

The 22 fighters on the Bellator 118 card stepped on the scale to make their bouts official on Thursday. Rafael Silva weighed in over by 1.9 lbs on his first try, having taken the weight on 1 weeks notice. He has 1 hour to make the weight limit for the title fight to be official.

UPDATE: As a result of Rafael Silva unable to make the 135lb weight limit, the interim bantamweight title fight will go forward as a 5-round title fight, but only Joe Warren will be able to win the title. If Rafael Silva wins, he will not be crowned the champion.

And as a result of Sam Oropeza missing the 171lb weight limit, he is not out of the welterweight tournament semifinal, and Justin Baseman becomes his replacement, and will fight Andrey Koreshkov.
