Three Title Fights Officially Announced for WSOF 10

The upcoming event for World Series of Fighting, WSOF 10 will feature a trio of title fights on the card, which is scheduled to take place on June 21st, at the Event Center Arena in San Jose, California. Currently scheduled on the fight card is a featherweight title fight, a middleweight title fight, and most recently announced, a women’s strawweight title fight.

Newly crowned WSOF featherweight champion, Georgi Karakhanyan (23-3-1) is set to defend his title against challenger Rick Glenn in the main event of WSOF 10. Karakhanyan defeated late replacement, Lance Palmer at WSOF 7 in December of 2013 to become the inaugural featherweight champion. This will be the first defense of his title, Georgi is riding a 9-fight win streak including two wins in WSOF.

Rick Glenn (14-2-1) was Karakhanyan’s original opponent at WSOF 7, before he suffered an injury and had to withdraw from the fight. Glenn, unbeaten in his last 12 fights, now gets his chance to capture the featherweight title.

The co-main event features the finals of the WSOF middleweight tournament, between Dave Branch and Jesse Taylor, to crown the inaugural middleweight champion.

David Branch (13-3) defeated Danillo Villefort in the semifinals, and is currently undefeated in WSOF at 3-0 with wins over Dustin Jacoby, Paulo Filho, and the aforementioned Villefort.

Jesse Taylor’s (27-9) road to the finals was not easy, having his first semifinal bout cancelled at WSOF 5 due to his opponent, Elvis Mutapcic being seen by the commission taking unapproved medication backstage. But JT Money would eventually defeat Mutapcic to secure his shot at the inaugural title.

The 3rd title fight features the #1 ranked female strawweight fighter in the world, Jessica Aguilar defending her WSOF strawweight title against Japanese strawweight Emi Fujino.

Jessica Aguilar won the inaugural strawweight title by defeating Alida Gray at WSOF 8 via 1st round arm-triangle choke. She also holds a win over the current Invicta FC strawweight champion Carla Esparza, and two wins over the Japanese legend, Megumi Fuji.

Emi Fujino (13-7) will fight outside of her home country Japan for the first time in her career, the 33 year old is coming off a loss to Mizuki Inoue back in November of 2013.
