On a night where boxing took centre stage, kickboxing promotion Glory hosted it’s 16th event and made a huge statement with a series of highlight reel knockouts and fun fights. One of the staggering knockouts took place in the welterweight division in a contest between one-time Strikeforce talent Raymond Daniels and Cameroonian fighter Francois Ambang. What resulted was a another fantastic knockout by one of the most creative kickboxers in the world.
Raymond Daniels is a man best known for his amateur kickboxing fight with current UFC welterweight prospect Stephen Thompson, which ended in a No Contest after an injury suffered by Thompson. However – unlike Thompson – he found little success when transitioning over to MMA competition. After losing his first and only fight in MMA, under now-Zuffa owned promotion Strikeforce, Daniels decided he was one-and-done and decided to focus on his professional kickboxing career, where he has been a breath of fresh air.
Daniels is now 4-1 as a professional, rebounding from his hitherto sole loss in devastating fashion on Saturday. With a flying spin hook kick knockout delivered at Glory 16, and spinning heel kick knockout in October at Glory 11, Daniels is becoming one of the most exciting kickboxers out there. 2-1 since signing with the well-renowned promotion, I would advise everyone to keep an eager eye on Raymond Daniels in the future.
Daniels delivered the incredible knockout to Francois Ambang at just 1:47 in the first round, which can be seen below in this GIF.
