Leslie Smith has earned another fight in the octagon

I know this would have been more timely a couple of weeks ago, but I feel like now is better than later.

Like many mixed martial arts competitors, Leslie “The Peacekeeper” Smith achieved her dream of competing in the octagon when she took a rematch against Sarah Kaufman on short notice back in April.

Just like in their first fight, Kaufman came away with the decision win. Despite the loss, Smith has earned another fight in the UFC. She brings an exciting style and a aggressiveness to her fights– akin to other Cesar Gracie disciples like the Diaz brothers – that fans gravitate to. She also has a great chin, having never been submitted or knocked out – despite going up against Kaufman and Kaitlin Young, two of the most dangerous strikers in the women’s division.

There are a few possible opponents for Smith’s next match. She could face Kaufman in a third match, but this time give both fighters adequate time to prepare. The Peacemaker could also rematch Raquel “Rocky” Pennington, who she beat at Invicta FC 4 back in 2013.

Personally, I would like to see her in a five round war against Young, but that’s just me.
