MMA fighter Yukari Yamaguchi to make professional kickboxing debut

Combat sports propect Yukari Yamaguchi will take a step into a larger world in June, as she makes the move from amateur to professional to take on Megumi Igawa at J-Girls: “The Shining Wild Angels 2nd.

Yamaguchi has one mixed martial arts fight in the amateur level – a first-round submission win over Nana Ichikawa in December 2011. According to MMARising.com, she finished her ammy kickboxing run at 12-2 and comes into the bout with an eight-fight winning streak.

As for Igawa, she comes into the fight with a 5-7-3 record and is a former karate champion. She comes into the fight with a win over Ayaka Yuyama.

Reports also state that Yamaguchi looks to return to MMA and her success in kickboxing will certainly help her striking. She is the training partner of Jewels Grand Prix champion Mizuki Inoue, who made waves this past year after earning a decision win over Bec Hyatt.

The Land of the Rising Sun has produced some great combat sports stars over the years and Yamaguchi could very well be the next Japanese sensation who could eventually make her way over to the United States.
