When two fighters have seemingly have their backs against the wall because they had endured some losses, it forces them to perform better. Look at the fight between “The Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva and Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell back in 2007
Although Scottish fighter Amanda Kelly and Kerry “Rocksteady” Hughes, who face each other at Cage Warriors 69, June 7, don’t necessarily have their backs against the wall like Silva and Liddell were many years ago, their recent setbacks could give them the motivation to put on a good show.
Kelly comes into the fight after a decision loss against Laura “Hot Head” Howarth back in February. Hughes also experienced a loss in her last bout, dropping a decision to Polish powerhouse Agnieszka “Kuma” Niedzwiedz last month.
Hughes and Kelly both made their professional MMA debuts in Cage Warriors. Kelly scored a first-round KO over Hannah Stevens in October 2013 while Hughes picked up a decision victory over L.J. Adams in two months prior.
Both fighters are still young in their professional careers this gives them a chance to have a standout performance and become a face of Cage Warriors’ women’s division.
