The second event as part of the Bellator 2014 Summer Series will take place on July 25th at the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California. Bellator 122 will feature both the season 10 middleweight and welterweight tournament finals. In the middleweight final, Brett Cooper takes on Brandon Halsey, and in the welterweight final, Andrey Koreshkov fights Adam McDonough.
Brett Cooper (20-9) and Brandon Halsey were originally scheduled to meet in the main event of Bellator 119, before a back injury forced Cooper out of the bout one week prior. Cooper literally punched his ticket into the finals of the 4-man middleweight tournament, by knocking out Kendall Grove in the semifinal round. After falling short in the finals of the season 8 middleweight tournament, Cooper looks for his first Bellator tournament win.
Brandon Halsey (6-0) was a late replacement in the tournament, for a previously cancelled bout, and defeated Joe Pacheco in the semifinal via unanimous decision. Halsey has just been competing professionally in MMA since 2012, and has accumulated a 4-0 record in Bellator.
In the welterweight tournament final, the 23 year old Russian Andrey Koreshkov (16-1) will be looking for his 2nd tournament victory, in as many tournaments. The former season 7 tournament winner, defeated Nah-Shon Burrell and Justin Baesman–both by knockout–in the first two rounds of this season’s tournament.
Adam McDonough (11-0) looks to remain undefeated and win his first Bellator tournament, having defeated Jesse Juarez (decision) and Nathan Coy (knockout) in the quarter and semifinals respectively. “Big Gunna” is 3-0 after joining Bellator in 2013, and has 6 career wins by knockout.
