A bout between welterweight veterans Zak Cummings and Kenny Robertson has been added to the UFC Fight Night 45 card, which will be held at Revel Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. on July 16. The fight was announced on the UFC’s official website, and will likely be contested on the preliminary portion of the card. Lightweights Donald Cerrone and Jim Miller will headline the card, with the latter being a New Jersey native.
Zak Cummings had a rocky time since getting his first Octagon victory after the passing of his father and missing weight for his fight at the TUF China Finale which led to a fight cancellation on the day of the fight against Alberto Mina. However he rebounded from such adversity by defeating Yan Cabral via decision earlier this month, handing the Brazilian prospect the first loss of his professional career. That win took Cummings’ record to 2-0 inside the UFC since his stint on The Ultimate Fighter 17.
Kenny Robertson scored an impressive victory over Thiago Perpetuo in March, defeating the hometown favourite via first round submission in a fight which showed the grappling ability of the 30 year old. Despite being 3-3 in his last six fights and just 2-3 inside the Octagon, Robertson has impressed when victorious and has finished twelve of his thirteen wins in his professional career. He will be hoping to get his first two fight win streak since 2010 with a win over Zak Cummings, who showed that he can hang with the best on the ground in his fight with Cabral.
With both fighters looking to advance in the welterweight division, this fight could be a fun one. UFC Fight Night 45 will go down on July 16 in Atlantic City, NJ. and is headlined by Donald Cerrone fighting Jim Miller in a five round lightweight bout.
