Nate Diaz Says Jake Ellenberger Turned Down Fight Offer

During UFC 173, right in the middle of the fight between Robbie Lawler and Jake Ellenberger, is when Nate Diaz tweeted out some surprising news. Diaz revealed to the internet that the UFC had offered him to fight Jake Ellenberger two months ago. Adding also that Ellenberger had turned down the fight, and that the UFC had asked him to keep quiet about the offer.

Nate Diaz (17-9) has been inactive since his TKO win over Gray Maynard in November of 2013 at the TUF 18 Finale. The one time 3rd ranked lightweight in the UFC has since had his name removed from the UFC rankings, due to inactivity as the reason given by the UFC.

Nate Diaz has asked time and time again for the UFC to pay him, requesting a salary raise before competing again in the promotion. But the UFC has not obliged with the fighter’s demands.
