Julianna Pena expects to make recovery by January

Months after she became the first female to win “The Ultimate Fighter” Julianna “The Venezuelan Vixen” Pena made her return to mixed martial arts, although in the way fans would imagine.

Pena made an appearance at last night’s Conquest of the Cage event in Airway Heights. where she fought in 2011 and 2012. During her appearance, she announced that she visited a doctor and is expected to make a recovery by January.

“I know that’s a long time, but when you see me get back into the octagon someone’s going to die.”

In addition to announcing her recovery, Pena cornered Sikjitsu teammate Elizabeth Phillips.

Pena was scheduled to face Jessica Andrade in her first fight after TUF, back in March 2013, until she was sidelined with an injury.

Although there was controversy surrounding the specific circumstances of the incident, it sounds like Pena’s surgery was successful and she will return to the octagon. Injuries have a way of motivating a fighter and I’m sure Pena will come back stronger than ever before.
