ONE Fighting Championship returns to Jakarta, Indonesia on June 14th, holding ONE FC 17: Era of Champions at the Mata Elang International Stadium. This marks the third time the promotion has visited Jakarta, but the first time an event will be held in that specific venue.
The 9-fight card airing on onefc.livesport.tv and on Fight Network in Canada, will be headlined by a flyweight bout between Brazilian Adriano Morares (10-1) and the debuting Kosuke Suzuki (10-3-2). And will feature four hometown Indonesian fighters on the card.
26 year old Adriano “Black Diamond” Moraes (not to be confused with the Brazilian bull rider) is coming off a 2nd round submission victory over Yasuhiro Urushitani at ONE FC 14 in March, the victory allowed him to bounce back from his first career loss that occurred at ONE FC 12–losing a split decision to Yusup Saadulaev. Moraes has finished 7 of his career 10 victories (3 via TKO/KO, 4 via submission).
Kosuke “Rambo” Suzuki has competed his entire 15-fight career inside the Japanese Shooto promotion. He comes into this ONE FC debut having reeled off 5 consecutive victories. At 5’3″, Suzuki will be giving up a sizable height advantage when he takes on the 5’8″ Moraes. 6 of his victories have come by decision, along with 3 knockout victories.
The co-main event will feature Indonesia’s top fighter, the undefeated Fransino Tirta (15-0-1) making his ONE FC debut and return to MMA after a 3-year hiatus, taking on Egyptian Sami Amin (4-1) in the bantamweight division. The 33 year old Tirta will be fighting in front of his hometown crowd, something he’s grown accustomed to in the past, having fought the majority of his career for TPI Fighting Championship—an Indonesian-based promotion.
However this will be Tirta’s first time fighting in Indonesia since 2005. He last fought in 2011 for Legend FC in China, defeating Chengjie Wu by unanimous decision. Fransino Tirta began his MMA career in 2003, and has finished 13 of his career 15 victories (7 by ko/tko, 5 by submission).
The other three fighters representing Indonesia on the ONE FC 17 card will be featherweight Yohan Mulia Legowo (7-2), welterweight Zuli Silawanto (6-7), and Desi Rahayu (0-0).
Rounding out the fight card are a couple of intriguing flyweight bouts including another Shooto fighter making his ONE FC debut, Kentaro Watanabe (10-4) against Geje Eustaquio (5-2). And the returning 21 year old Malaysian prospect, Gianni Subba (3-1) looks to bounce back from his first career loss, against Ruel Catalan (2-4).
