One week after her win over Katie Howard at Conquest of the Cage 16,  Elizabeth Phillips will now have the opportunity to fight at the highest level in mixed martial arts.

UFC officials announced that Phillips has signed a contract and will face Valerie “Trouble” Letourneau at UFC 174, June 14. She is replacing Milana Dudieva, who was originally scheduled to fight Germaine “The Iron Lady” de Randamie until Letourneau stepped in to replace the Dutch fighter.

Phillips comes in with a record of 4-1 and is riding a four-fight winning streak. Although she’s only had five fights on her professional record, she’s fought a couple of high caliber opponents and trains at Sik Jitsu, which has produced several stars that currently fight for the UFC, including two winners from “The Ultimate Fighter” – Mike Chiesa and Julianna Pena.

If there’s one disadvantage that Phillips has in this fight, it might be that she’s coming into the fight on such short notice, but fans have seen competitors pick up victories even when they step into the cage 2-3 weeks after a fight.

One thing that will be interesting is the crowd. Although Letourneau is from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, the fight takes place in Vancouver, British Columbia, which isn’t too far from Washington state where Phillips is from. For all we know it could be split down the middle.
