Maureen Riordon to make pro MMA debut before boxing match

Don’t let her nickname – “Baby Face” – fool you. Maureen Riordon could be considered a machine when it comes to combat sports.

Less than a month before she faces Lita Mae Button in the co-main event of the Nordic Coliseum Boxing, Aug. 15., Riordon is gearing up for her professional MMA debut at Resurrection Fighting Alliance 16, July 25, against prospect Lauren Barefoot.

Riordon will have a challenge in Barefoot, who will be stepping into the cage for the first time in two years. The fighter from Nebraska made her professional debut back in 2012 where she finished Ashleigh Curry two minutes into the first round. During her amateur run she was 4-0 with 1 no contest.

Riordon was 3-2 in her amateur run with all of her victories coming by way of TKO. Earlier this year she made history by becoming one of the first women to compete in Glory World Series.

It’s admirable to see fighters going back-and-forth between different sports. Not only will this help her with her striking and conditioning, but also allows her to compete in front of a wider audience.

Riordon started a “Go Fund Me” page to help with the costs of her training camp. If you would like to contribute, follow the link.
