Maureen Riordon gets opponent change for RFA 16

Due to injury, Lauren Barefoot had to pull out of her scheduled bout against “Baby Face” Maureen Riordon at RFA 16, July 25. Thankfully the promotion has found a replacement.

Riordon , who is making her professional MMA debut, will face California fighter Marion “The Bruiser” Reneau at the event. The Baby Face confirmed on her Facebook that Barefoot had withdrawn from the fight but a replacement opponent hadn’t been named until now.

Reneau hasn’t competed since November 2013, though she is currently 3-1 in professional fights. In her last bout she beat Leslie Rodriguez via TKO 84 seconds into the first round. Before that she scored a 10-second knockout over Lydia Reyes in 2012.

This will be an interesting challenge for Riordon. While The Bruiser has good striking, the Baby Face’s experience in boxing and kickboxing could be enough to stand up to the California fighter. She also went 3-2 as an amateur, with all of her wins coming by TKO. Riordon has also been training in Canada with Charmaine “No So Sweet” Tweet, who is a good submission fighter, as well as a proficient striker.
