While Invicta FC 8 will crown one – possibly two champions, it will also make history when “The Heartbreaker” Veronica Rothenhausler and “Not So Sweet” Charmaine Tweet square off in the promotion’s first 155-pound fight.
Like a couple of the other fights on the card, Rothenhausler and Tweet is sure to be a hard-hitting bout. Both fighters have good striking and powerful fists.
Rothenhausler made her professional debut in 2014 where she scored a first-round knockout over. Katalina Malungahu. She went 3-0 as an amateur with two five-second TKO wins. As for Tweet, she has a kickboxing and boxing background. Prior to this fight, she will compete in the all-female Nordic Coliseum Boxing event in August.
One edge that Tweet will have is in grappling. All five of her wins have been by way of submission. In her last fight, she tapped out Anna Barone with a rear-naked choke three minutes into the first round.
MMA fans and fighters have been asking for women’s lightweight division for some time. With Rothenhausler and Tweet stepping up in weight, it does take some of the potential star power from featherweight, yet it gives them an opportunity to be pioneers for women who want to compete at lightweight.
