The 36 year old Brandon Vera has found a new home in MMA for the first time since 2005, signing with the Asia’s largest MMA organization, ONE FC.
Brandon Vera’s (12-7, 1 NC) 8-year run inside the UFC ended in 2014 when he was officially released following back-to-back losses in 2013—to Mauricio Rua and Ben Rothwell. The former heavyweight began his career with 8 straight wins including fights inside the WEC and the UFC—defeating former UFC heavyweight champion, Frank Mir.
The Filipino fighter then experienced an up and down career, unable to continue the momentum built up early on. Vera moved to light heavyweight after suffering two straight losses to Tim Sylvia and Fabricio Werdum, and ultimately went 4-7 with 1 no-contest following his hot start.
Vera was once thought of to be one of the top fighters in the sport back in his prime, and had once proclaimed himself to be a future two-weight class champion.
ONE FC announced that Vera is expected to make his debut for the promotion late in 2014. It is not known whether he’ll be fighting at heavyweight or light heavyweight in his debut.
