“The Supernova of Moldova” Marina Shafir will now face her toughest competition as she steps into the cage against Amanda “The Lady Killer” Bell at Chaos of the 5, Aug. 10.
Bell, who confirmed the fight on her Facebook page, will be replacing Michigan native Nakita Netjes.
Personally I think this is a better bout for Shafir. Although she is 1-2 in her professional career, which includes a submission win over Brittney Elkin, The Lady Killer had an impressive 6-1 amateur run. In her last fight at ammy, she finished UFC fighter Jessamyn “The Gun” Duke via TKO in round 3. Bell will be a good test for Shafir, who is coming off a successful pro debut against Chandra Engel back in April.
This is also a good situation for Bell as it gives her a chance to make a name for herself. While Shafir has only had one pro fight, she’s well known in the MMA community, particularly due to her coaching stint on “The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs. Team Tate” and her association with Duke, “The Queen of Spades” Shayna Baszler and UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.
As for The Supernova, Bell could be a stepping stone to bigger opportunities in bigger promotions like the UFC or Invicta Fighting Championships.
