In a video interview with The Hollywood Reporter – which took place before her title match against Alexis Davis – UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey discussed her training regimen before her title match and her blossoming acting career.

At one point, Rousey said her agent told her she could be the female version of “The Rock” – real name Dwayne Johnson – and the Rowdy one said that her plan is to do just that.

Being labeled the female version of The Rock is impressive. He was the highest grossing actor last year, is known around the world and is one of the most well-known figures in acting and professional wrestling. But Johnson’s acting career didn’t really take off until toward the end of his professional wrestling career while Rousey’s movie resume is blossoming and she hasn’t even hit the peak of her fighting career. And as Johnson’s acting career was growing, he started to distance himself from wrestling – until he came back for Wrestlemania 28.

There are plenty of action roles for Rousey. There are also those type of roles in movies released only on DVDs and Netflix – not that there’s anything wrong that. With the rise in comic book movies, the Rowdy one could portray one of the iconic female characters from Marvel or DC like the current Captain Marvel or Black Canary.

She could also perform in dramas or comedies. Heck, I’ve kind of a series of mystery novels in mind and I thought to myself “Ronda could fit this role” but that’s a topic for an entirely different blog.

Rousey might only have a few flicks under her belt, but there is time for her to grow and get more acting opportunities down the road, especially once she retires from mixed martial arts – which is ultimately her decision.
