Normally fighting at featherweight, the Oklahoma State All-American wrestler, Jerrod Sanders (14-1) made his debut at lightweight against “The Pink Panther” Yosdenis Cedeno (9-3), who lost a split decision in his UFC debut against Ernest Chavez.
The American Top Team fighter, Saunders threw a right leg kick early on that was countered by a huge right hand by Cedeno on the chin, which knocked Jerrod Saunders down to the canvas. Saunder’s wrestling instincts kicked in—as Cedeno pushed hard to finish the fight—and secured a double leg takedown on Cedeno to recover. Cedeno was able to use a leg lock attempt to scramble and get on top of Saunders midway through the round. Cedeno continued to land heavy shots on the mat, and ended the round on top in the half-guard on Sanders.
Jerrod Sanders had difficulty walking back to his corner in between rounds, favoring his left leg—damage done by an earlier leg kick from Cedeno. After a minute of the break, the fight was stopped by the referee as Jerrod Sanders could not continue.
Yosdenis “The Pink Panther” Cedeno earned his first UFC victory.
