Video: Jessamyn Duke vs. Charmaine Tweet in Muay Thai bout

Before they became known for dishing out punishment inside of the cage, Charmaine “Not So Sweet” Tweet and Jessamyn “The Gun” Duke fought in the ring – against each other.

As I was watching some boxing on Youtube, I came across a link to a video that was uploaded in 2010. It featured a young Gun taking on an experienced Tweet inside of the ring.

It’s not surprising seeing two fighters like Duke and Tweet have a Muay Thai and bring it to the cage. Mixed martial arts has evolved to a point to where having that experience in kickboxing, boxing and other disciplines can really help you.

Duke is coming off a loss against Leslie “The Peacemaker” Smith earlier this week. She recently underwent successful surgery for a broken hand she sustained in the fight against The Peacemaker. I have no doubt that she’ll make her return before the end of the year – though I think she’s earned herself some rest.

Tweet recently defeated Anna Barone via submission back in May. She is scheduled to take on Veronica “The Heartbreaker” Rothenhausler at Invicta FC 8, Sept. 6, in the promotion’s first women’s lightweight bout. Tweet and Rothenhausler have some bad blood between them and I think this could be a slug fest. Tweet may have the advantage when it comes to the ground game, but I think both fighters will look to keep it standing.
