Elizabeth Phillips ready for octagon redemption

Washington-native Elizabeth Phillips came up short in her UFC debut against Canadian fighter Valerie “Trouble” Letourneau in back in June. Now she gets a chance to capture her first win inside the octagon, almost two months after that loss.

According to reports, Phillips will head to Macau to take on Russian fighter Milana Dudieva, Aug. 23. “TUF” winner Michael Bisping and former Strikeforce Middleweight champion Cung Le are scheduled to headline that evening’s event.

Dudieva has already fought twice this year, having back-to-back submission wins against Daria Chibisova and Anastasia Plisenkova. She was scheduled to make her UFC debut against Germaine de Randamie – who was later replaced by Letourneau – however, an injury sidelined her from the event. Funny enough, Phillips was the one who replaced her for the fight.

Although she’s coming off a loss, Phillips has bounced back from defeat in the past. She lost her pro debut against Miriam Nakamoto back in 2012. She won her next four fights, including back-to-back wins over Rachael Swatez and Katie Howard in 2014.

Phillips also trains with several UFC stars, including “TUF” winners Julianna Pena and Mike Chiesa and former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight champion Miesha Tate.
