Marlon Moraes quickly made a name for himself when he defeated Miguel Torres at the inaugural WSOF event. He carried that momentum and won his next 3 consecutive bouts on way to becoming one of WSOF’s biggest stars—knocking out Tyson Nam and Chase Beebe in the process. It all culminated in March of 2014 at WSOF 9, when Moraes won a 5-round unanimous decision over Josh Rettinghouse to become the first WSOF bantamweight champion.
The Brazilian Moraes, now one of the top 10 bantamweights in the world, carries a 7-fight win streak into his first title defense.
Josh Hill made his debut for WSOF’s affiliate, WSOF Canada at their 2nd event, knocking out Mike Adams in the 2nd round. Hill was a cast member on The Ultimate Fighter season 18, defeating Patrick Holohan to earn a spot in the house. But would lose his quarterfinal bout to, Michael Wooten. Before that, Hill made his rounds in Canada, fighting for the former Score Fighting Series, and established himself as one of Canada’s top bantamweights.
